Golica During Daffodil Season

When spring is in full bloom, sometime between the end of April and mid-May, something special happens above the town of Jesenice.

The meadows below Mount Golica turn white for a short time – not because of snow, but because of millions of daffodils that blanket the slopes for a few weeks. If you love nature, hiking, and stunning views, this is one of those trips you simply have to experience.

Do vrha Golice vodi več poti. Najbolj znana – in zato tudi najbolj obiskana – je tista iz Planine pod Golico. Pot je zmerno strma, dobro označena in že med vzponom ponuja razglede, ki jemljejo dih.

For those seeking more peace and quiet, a great starting point is Dom Pristava in Javorniški Rovt. The trail leads through the forest, which is especially pleasant on warmer days. It’s slightly longer and more gradual. You also have the option to drive further up to Križevec, where you can shorten the hike to the top of Golica by about an hour.

No matter which trail you choose, one thing is certain: at the top of Golica, a breathtaking view awaits that’s worth every step. In good weather, the view stretches towards the Karawanks, the Julian Alps, the valley, and beyond. That’s the moment to sit down, open your backpack, and enjoy a sip of water.

Of course, we took our Snow Monkey bottle with us. Since we wanted to see if it really delivers on what we promise, we filled it with ice-cold water in the morning. After several hours of hiking in the sun, the water was still pleasantly cold. Not lukewarm. Not stale. Just perfectly refreshing.

You don’t need much for a trip like this – good shoes, a layer of clothing, sun protection, a snack, a bottle of water, and the right timing; Because the daffodils don’t wait long. Once they bloom, nature reveals itself in one of its most beautiful forms.

Golica during daffodil season isn’t just a hike – it’s an experience that stays with you. Especially if a cold drink is waiting for you at the top.
